Iran is ready to resume atomic talks with the United States as long as it is approached with "respect" and "respect", Iran's foreign minister has stated.

The Iranian diplomat declared exclusively dialogue worked, and disclosed recent overtures had originated from mediators to reopen negotiations with the Trump administration. He said Iran had zero secret atomic facilities, and Tehran had not yet reached a point to permit the global atomic watchdog to access bombed nuclear sites for protective measures.

Walking a Complex Path

He was talking at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to refine atomic fuel domestically that it will perpetually retain" – the key factor of the deadlock in the previous talks.

Previous Talks Suddenly Concluded

The earlier sessions of discussions between the US and Iran were ended suddenly and acrimonious end on 12 June when the Israeli government, with American backing, struck Iranian nuclear sites in a fortnight-long engagement that culminated with the American leader declaring the facilities had been eliminated. Following this, European countries employed their authority to reinstate international penalties, but Iran insists they have not had a significant effect.

Perfect Agreement Proposed

Iranian officials said they felt they had reached a "magic solution" to the enrichment issue in earlier negotiations, when it was decided an domestic cooperative with Washington's engagement could refine atomic fuel. Both sides would have been able to claim victory since local refinement would have persisted and the US could be confident that Iran's nuclear programme was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been decided in the discussions that American atomic experts could operate within Iranian territory, but that was a reasonable assumption of the consortium proposal. Representatives stated on multiple occasions they had reached agreement with Trump's special envoy the American negotiator only for the arrangement to collapse due to "opponents in the US".

Current Status

Iranian officials declared the partnership proposal was now off the table, but it seems quite possible the suggestion could be revived in certain ways if talks resume.

The American leader recently stated he had been obtaining communications that Iran wanted to restart talks, but confidentially Iran's diplomats say they are not yet receiving consistent overtures from Washington either directly or from significant local go-betweens, such as Qatar, the Egyptian leadership, the Omani authorities and Saudi Arabia. The Iranian foreign ministry has been criticized of inactivity in the face of Washington's unmediated tactics, but Tehran says dialogue is not part of a show.

Political Position

In his remarks to the conference, intended to depict the US as a controlling nation that exploits the idea of global regulations, the foreign minister declared the 12-day war demonstrated the conflict could not be resolved by military means. He stated the strikes started with a US demand for an unconditional Iranian surrender and culminated with an absolute demand for a halt to hostilities.

Iran is certain the initial Israeli attacks were mounted with complete American awareness and coordination, making faith difficult to rebuild.

Araghchi stated: "Tehran was not the one that had fled dialogue; it was the United States and the European states that had consistently sought to impose their demands during the negotiations. Diplomacy can still be viable and stays the final solution to settle disputes, but its standards, rules and fundamentals must be respected."

"In case they address to the Iranian people with the approach of dignity and honor, they will obtain a reply in the identical approach."

Repair and Recovery

In what is portrayed by Iranian officials as the battle of restoration and recovery, the foreign minister said he was assured Iran's military capacities "are much stronger than before 13 or 14 June of this year. Every aspect of our defense have been restored. We gained many lessons from this conflict; we have discovered our personal limitations and the weaknesses of the opponent."

He continued: "We managed to survive this engagement. Our enrichment knowledge, which they aimed to obliterate, continues to exist. The sites and gear, if destroyed, will be rebuilt; what is important is the resolve of the nation of Iran and then the social solidarity that they sought to undermine, but did not succeed to shatter. The Iranian people have developed more resilient, more cohesive, and more supportive of the leadership and the state in the wake of this invasion."
